Ron Turney and his wife, Debbie, founded Turney Lighting & Electric in 1983. Joel started working for his parents in his junior year of high school through a school-work program. During his senior year, he would leave school before noon each day to go work in the warehouse. In a short time, he would also leave some days to learn and perform field installations. He became warehouse manager and eventually made his way into sales. Joel became a sales rep for many homebuilders including Aspen Homes known today as DR Horton homes, where he also met his wife, Liz. They now have two children and reside in Helotes, Texas which is also the location of the electrical division for Turney Lighting and Electric and where he currently works. Joel is techy and kind of the geek of the family. He would prefer building a new computer versus going hunting, or reading an issue of Popular Science in lieu of a sports magazine. He does enjoy a bit of fresh water fishing when time allows, but most of all during his free time, he enjoys the online interactive gaming experience of Xbox, Playstation, and the PC.
